Massage Therapy Foundation Awards 2021 Research Support Grant

(Evanston, Ill., February 23, 2022) The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) announces the award of one Research Support Grant for the 2021 granting cycle of $30,000 to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn., for its project, Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT) for Chronic Pain: An Implementation Science Pilot Study.

This pilot study, with Principal Investigator Kathryn Hansen, ANP-BC, and mentoring from Dr. Cynthia Price, will explore how to successfully implement MABT to reduce symptomatic distress for those in chronic pain. “This represents the first time that MABT will be delivered by massage therapists and has implications in demonstrating ‘real life’ evidence of mind-body treatments for chronic pain. We look forward to learning more from this study,” says MTF President Robin B. Anderson, MEd, LMT, BCTMB, CEAS.
