2024 John Balletto Distinguished Service Award Winner

Evanston, IL, September 25, 2024— Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) announces Douglas Nelson, LMT, BCTMB, Champaign, Ill., as the 2024 John Balletto Distinguished Service Award Winner, which is given to individuals whose service to the massage therapy profession, through generous volunteer efforts on behalf of the Massage Therapy Foundation, goes far beyond the norm.

MTF President Adrienne Asta, BA, LMT, presented Nelson with the MTF 2024 John Balletto Distinguished Service Award recipient on September 13, 2024, at MTF’s fundraiser event at Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla. Nelson was recognized for his service to the profession and his generous and long-time support of the Foundation.

“Through his 40-plus-years of work as a therapist, business owner, mentor, educator, and one who has enacted numerous acts of service, Doug always focuses on others. His thoughtfulness mixed with humor has made him the professional he is today. When Doug was president of the Massage Therapy Foundation, he navigated through a global pandemic, mentored staff and other trustees, and supported program launches for the Foundation such as Ergonomics Project, MassageNet, and Research Agenda. Doug sought out others to care about the work of the foundation, bringing in donors who supported our projects. His commitment to serving the Foundation and the profession has earned him widespread recognition, including the American Massage Therapy Association’s 2020 President’s Award,” said Asta. “Doug’s passion, generosity, and leadership have strengthened the very fabric of our organization. We thank him for his unwavering dedication to the Foundation and for making an indelible impact on the massage therapy profession.”
