The John Hancock Marathon Non-Profit Program has granted the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) four invitational entries (bibs) for the 2018 Boston Marathon. The Foundation is looking for four qualified runners to be a part of Team MTF-Running for Research. The selected runners will have a chance to participate in the Boston Marathon and raise money for massage therapy scientific research, education, and community service.
Massage Therapy Foundation President, Jerrilyn Cambron, LMT, DC, MPH, PhD, states, “We are excited for the opportunity to participate once again in such an amazing program. We had an incredible team last year, and I am looking forward to finding out who the 2018 runners will be.” Last year’s team members included: Collette Wilson, Christine Bailor-Goodlander, Vincent Dufort, Jodi Newman. The team raised over $61,000.
For 32 years, John Hancock has been the principal sponsor of the Boston Marathon. Each year John Hancock donates guaranteed running spots in the Boston Marathon to select non-profits, which recruit runners to raise money for their causes. Participants who ran on behalf of more than 200 non-profit organizations raised $34.2 million for charity in 2017. The fundraising total represents a twelve percent increase, or $3.6 million, over 2016’s results.
The Boston Marathon is a world-class event that brings together runners from around the world. The 2018 race will take place on Monday, April 16, 2018. Applications for runners are now available on the Massage Therapy Foundation website. Please click here. The application deadline is November 17, 2017.
