Countdown to the 2018 Boston Marathon! Meet the Team
Posted:Thursday, March 15, 2018
Race day is almost upon us! Our four runners on Team MTF – Running for Research are training hard for this prestigious event! The Boston Marathon ® is the world’s oldest annual marathon and running it is a major “bucket list” item for serious distance runners throughout the world. The John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Program provides a way for runners to raise funds for the causes they value most. Since 2012 the Massage Therapy Foundation has been grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program.
The 122nd Boston Marathon is on April 16, 2018. Make a commitment to advance the practice of massage therapy and cheer on our team with a donation today:

Meet Our 2018 Team:
Lindsay Bodkin (LMT) was inspired to enter the profession after massage therapy helped her regain function after a major accident.
“I’m running for the people whose bodies can’t endure a marathon, and to teach my three boys the importance of self-care. Thank you to my family, friends, colleagues, and complete strangers who are cheering me on throughout this journey. The love and support is overwhelming; and I am completely grateful.”
Massage therapy has always been a part of Desiree Bourgois van Oosting’s (LMT) wellness-focused lifestyle. Her life’s mission is helping people move toward their healthiest potential. Watching a client overcome physical adversities to run the 2008 Boston Marathon inspired Desiree to buy her first pair of running shoes.
“I am grateful to my client for his influence and the gift of running he shared with me 10 years ago. It’s a dream to run the Boston Marathon!”
Shadonne Harris (LMT) has a life built around educating others and helping them reach their goals. She is a massage therapy instructor and fitness coach. In her practice she specializes in back and neck pain and she is excited by the research that gets results for her clients.
“Training for the Boston Marathon has required a commitment and dedication that has made me a better person in every area of life. I am thankful for the opportunity!”
Teresa Matthews (LMT, CPT, BCTMB) is a passionate massage therapy educator and practitioner who loves the challenge of competition.
“I am excited to help my profession by raising money for research! Training for the marathon has been a valuable adventure. I have gained a great appreciation for people and athletes who live with pain. I can’t wait to experience the powerful, positive energy of race day at the Boston Marathon! I just love it!”
Thank you to Team MTF’s Premier Sponsor, AMTA, and to our Honored Sponsor, Performance Health!
