By Adrienne Asta, MTF President
It is my tremendous honor and privilege to follow in the footsteps of some of my brightest colleagues as I begin my service as your new President of the Massage Therapy Foundation. I am thrilled to have the talent of our Board and support of the brilliant and conscientious MTF staff as we move forward with our work serving the massage therapy profession and the communities that are positively impacted from our work. It is truly heart-centered teamwork that keeps this engine going!
My special thanks to the MTF’s immediate past president, Robin Anderson, for navigating projects that had momentum but were forced to come to a halt due to the pandemic. Robin did a tremendous job and maintained unwavering enthusiasm for MTF and the industry while navigating what could have been a devastating juncture for our profession.
For over 30 years MTF has advanced our industry through funding community service grants that bring massage to underserved populations all over the world. As Chair of our Community Service Committee, I’m looking forward to bringing forth a new initiative that will honor one of MTF’s founders, Bob King, while making a more significant impact on those who need our work the most but who otherwise wouldn’t have access. Stay tuned!
MTF also supports vital research that is catapulting our work into more integrated healthcare systems and is helping to equip MT educators with the tools to show our future colleagues the benefits of an informed practice.
There’s a lot to be hopeful for, and that doesn’t come without the responsibility to move forward with mindful, actionable, and collaborative efforts. I’m deeply looking forward to serving you and the massage therapy industry through this new role.
