FORE …

This year the Massage Therapy Foundation hosted its Fourth Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden, Colorado. The weather was perfect as 48 golfers arrived at the course. The registration area was filled with “swag” from our host sponsor Performance Health that included a Massage Therapy Foundation golf shirt (which made even the most fashionista-like of us look cool), Biofreeze bag, water bottle, and incredible products from Performance Health. However, that was not all … on the carts were golf towels from Massage Warehouse, a sleeve of golf balls from the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), and a beverage coozie from NVB Massage, which also sponsored the golf carts. AMTA also sponsored the putting green and driving range so the golfers could practice before getting out on this challenging but fun course. Lunch was served on the course and sponsored by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP). Additionally, each of the 18 holes was sponsored by organizations and individuals. Thank you to Massage Magazine (2), Lynda Solien-Wolfe, Massage Warehouse (3), John Balletto, Books of Discovery, CG Funk, Education and Training Solutions, Ruth Werner, Marshall Dahneke, Pua Gillespie, COMTA, Gini Ohlson, CranioCradle, Les Sweeney, and Tom Heidenberger.

Golf concluded around 2:30 pm and golfers came in and enjoyed a reception sponsored by the Upledger Foundation. During the reception, our two fantastic co-chairs Lynda Solien-Wolfe and Cliff Korn were our award Masters of Ceremony. Once the scores were calculated, Cliff announced that the ladies longest drive prize went to Carrie Majewski and the men’s longest drive prize went to Tim Veitzer. Closest to the pin prize for the ladies went to Donnelgolfers lynda and roccol Curley and for the men Mike Hovi. Each winner of these skills contests took home a $25 Visa gift card. Team competition was so close that the second and third place teams actually tied so the course staff used scores on handicap holes for a tie-breaker. Third place trophies went to the ABMP team of Les Sweeney, James Sutherlin, Darren Buford, and Matt Barnes. Second place trophies were awarded to the team that included Cliff Korn, Steve Keller, Kate Zulaski, and Greg Olsen. The first place team included Mike Hovi, Ed Hovi, Tom Gray, and . . . the bus driver. Yes, the bus driver. He brought his clubs, and we had an open slot for him to play. Little did we know he was a “ringer.” During the drive back to Denver, the bus driver got on the microphone and thanked all of us for one of his greatest days. He truly enjoyed his time with our wonderful group.

On behalf of all of us, we sincerely thank all of the incredible sponsors and golfers who supported this event. This event raised over $5,500 to support the Massage Therapy Foundation’s mission of advancing the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education, and community service. A tip of the MTF golf cap to all of you!

Special thanks goes to our host sponsor Performance Health and to the golf event planning team that included Cliff Korn, Lynda Solien-Wolfe, Darren Buford, and Nestor Battung.
