IJTMB Welcomes New Editorial Team

The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) and Registered Massage Therapists of British Columbia (RMTBC) are pleased to welcome a new editorial team for the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (IJTMB). Amanda Baskwill, PhD, will spearhead the journal as Executive Editor along with Luann Fortune, PhD, and Sarah Fogarty, PhD as Associate Editors.
Amanda Baskwill, PhD, RMT, Toronto, Canada
Dr. Baskwill is currently the Dean of Health, Human and Justice Studies at Loyalist College, Belleville, Ontario. Dr. Baskwill brings exceptional research and leadership capacities, having served as Humber College’s (Toronto, Ontario) Associate Dean, Allied Health – Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness since 2017.
Dr. Baskwill holds a Bachelor of Education (Adult Education) from Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, and a Master of Science, Health Research Methodology. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. As a Registered Massage Therapist, Ms. Baskwill holds a Massage Therapy Diploma and a Teacher of Adults Certificate from Centennial College, Toronto, Ontario.
Sarah Fogarty, PhD, LMT, Sydney, Australia
Dr. Fogarty is a massage therapist and researcher. She has been practicing massage since 2000 and has worked with high-level athletes, professionals, and individuals who are pregnant and individuals who have experience grief particularly those who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss. She holds an adjunct fellow position at Western Sydney University, Penrith, Australia. Dr. Fogarty holds advanced certifications in Neuromuscular Therapy and Prenatal Massage, with her clients seeing her for nurturing and informed approaches to pain management. She is proud of her work around massage and miscarriage and for bringing massage to women pregnant after a stillbirth. Dr. Fogarty was awarded MTF’s 2022 Research Support Grant on this topic.
Luann Fortune, PhD, LMT, Florida, USA
Dr. Fortune serves as core faculty in Saybrook University’s (Oakland, Calif.) Mind-Body Medicine, program and coordinates the Mindful Leadership in Healthcare Specialization and the Mindful Moments offerings. She teaches courses in integrative healthcare and mindful leadership, mentors individual students, and supervises research projects. Her research focuses on the holistic aspects of massage and alternative wellness practices, as well as somatic awareness and embodiment techniques for scholarship, research, and practice. Her research expertise spans a wide range of methodologies, and with specializations in phenomenology, narrative inquiry, case study, and mixed-methods. Her writings and publications span multiple disciplines, invoke systems thinking, and promote translational value in scholarship and practice. Dr. Fortune’s professional experience includes over two decades as a licensed massage therapist and bodywork instructor. She also has extensive management background in the private sector and owned and operated a private practice delivering wellness consultation, educational services, and consulting.
MTF and RMTBC celebrate three women in academia, practice, and research as they take the helm as a global editorial team. They will build upon the success of Ann Blair Kennedy, DrPH, who served as Executive Editor for six years and Albert Moraska, PhD, longstanding Research Section Editor.
The International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (IJTMB) is an open access, peer-reviewed publication intended to accommodate the diverse needs of the rapidly-expanding therapeutic massage and bodywork community.
